How to visit Royal Ontario Museum ?

Why Traveling There?

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is one of the largest museums in North America and the largest in Canada. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in art, world culture, and natural history. With over six million objects in its collection, the ROM offers an unparalleled depth of experiences and insights into the world's history and development.

How to Get There?

The ROM is located in Toronto, Ontario. If you are arriving from outside of Canada, the easiest way to reach Toronto is by flying into Pearson International Airport. From there, you can take the UP Express train to Union Station and then the TTC Subway to Museum Station, which is right across from the ROM. If you are driving, there's underground parking available nearby at the Yorkville-Cumberland Garage.

What to Book in Advance?

It is recommended to buy your admission tickets in advance online to avoid long lines at the ticketing booth. If you are planning to see any special exhibitions, it would be wise to book those tickets in advance as well.

What Are The Costs?

General admission tickets for adults are $20, while students and seniors get a discounted rate of $16.50. Children aged 4-14 can enter at a cost of $14 and those under 3 years old are free. Special exhibitions usually have an additional cost.

What Are The Best Things To Do?

Apart from exploring the vast collection of artifacts, the ROM also offers interactive displays and hands-on galleries, especially for children. Also, don't miss the Bat Cave, a replica of the St. Clair Cave in Jamaica, and the Dinosaur gallery, which is a big hit among kids.

Where to Eat?

There are several dining options within the ROM, including the Druxy's ROM Café which offers a variety of meals and snacks. For a fancier dining experience, try the nearby Museum Tavern or The Oxley, both offering delicious gourmet fare.

Where to Stay?

There are numerous hotels around the ROM. The Park Hyatt is an upscale option located just a short walk away. For a more budget-friendly stay, consider the Holiday Inn Bloor Yorkville. The Kimpton Saint George Hotel is another great option with its artsy, modern vibe.

Off The Beaten Path

For an unusual experience, you can take part in the ROM’s Sleepover events. These events allow you to spend the night in the museum, with access to select galleries and exhibits. Activities include a flashlight tour, storytelling, and hands-on crafts. It's a unique way to experience the museum, and certainly an adventure to remember!
